Manthan | Hand Block Printed Summer & Monsoon Wear, Inspired by India's Small Moments

Manthan means "churn" — the slow, patient process by which many small things come together to create something new. This collection began the same way: a pomegranate shared with a five-year-old, a hibiscus flower caught from a moving auto window, kum-kum still warm from a south Indian temple, a palace garden humming with bees, a turtle glimpsed in a magazine page at a quiet café. Six ordinary moments, carried home and churned, slowly, into an entire collection of hand block printed clothing.

Every print in Manthan starts as an original illustration, hand-carved into a wooden block over the course of a month, aged in natural oils for 29 days, and printed using natural dyes like harad, manjishtha, indigo, jaggery, and multani mitti — colours rooted in old Indian dyeing traditions, gentle on skin and kind to the earth. The final printing itself can take anywhere from three to five weeks, depending on the intricacy of the design and the strength of the sun. Nothing here is rushed, and nothing here is made twice.
